2011 was a billion-dollar year for Memphis and Shelby County.
Last year, private businesses poured almost $1.2 billion in capital
investment into the city and county, a figure touted Tuesday, Jan. 17,
as a major accomplishment for the area at a time of prolonged strain in
the local, state and national economy.
That total was announced Tuesday by Greater Memphis Chamber president and CEO John Moore [TN, '09], Memphis Mayor A C Wharton Jr. and Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell.
